In addition to the regular community development programs, JeCCDO has been implementing projects of unique nature. These are

Creating Access to and Demand for Quality WASH

This is a WaterAid funded project being implemented by JeCCDO as of april/2014 in of Amhara region. The key expected outcomes of the project are: increased access to safe water, reduction in the incidence of water, sanitation and hygiene related health problems, sustainable community management and administration of WASH facilities, increased networking and partnership among WASH stakeholders and institutionalization of evidence based learning and actions.

Empowerment of Marginalised Negede Woyto Community

The project is intended to improve access to basic services and income generating opportunities and ending further displacement and exclusion of the Negede Woitto Community who are the most excluded social group in the city of Bahir Dar. It is being implemented in partnership with Partners for Change Ethiopia and Baring and John Ellerman Foundations as well as in collaboration with the community and the local government.

Supporting vulnerable groups through partnerships

This project is funded by Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP) and is being implemented in Hawassa and Dire Dawa Cities in collaboration with CBOs. The main objective of the project is to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable groups like OVC, their guardians, youth and elderly through partnership with local communities.

Community Outreach Youth Soccer (COYS)
This is funded by US Embassy to Ethiopia and has been implemented for the last 2 years in Dire Dawa. The objective of the initiative is to use the sport of football as a tool to share common values such as fairness, respect, team-mindedness and healthy lifestyle among youth drawn from Ethiopia Somali, Harari and Dire Dawa regions; and also more importantly, to strengthen the relationship between and amongst local police and the communities they serve. 

Road Safety

Given the fact that, road accidents are increasing alarmingly in Ethiopia, and children, women and the elderly are greatly victimized,  JeCCDO  piloted  a  road  safety  education  on  children  first  in  Bahir  Dar  town  and replicated the practice to Debre Birhan, Dire Dawa and Hawassa and continues to do so.   


Community Action Network
The Dire Dawa City Action Network Project (DD-CAN) aimed at creating social cohesion and build social capital among CBOs and enabling them forward their problems to the concerned government bodies and get solution which leads them towards realizing overall development to their community.
